SUMMER is coming! It's weird to think about that considering we are in the midst of a pandemic, but I'm deciding to look on the bright side of things. Only one more month of school, and then our 3 month break begins. Here is a summer clothing idea to put you in that summer state of mind :)

Sometimes I feel like looking our best in the summer can be hard. It's hot outside, sometimes humid, and it can be challenging to put a cute outfit together when you just want to wear a tank top and gym shorts. I TOTALLY GET IT! Comfort is key especially in summer. And no one ever said athleisure couldn't be cute. I definitely partake in my own share of athleisure. But, there's always a time that's less casual or maybe you just want to dress it up a little. In this situation, my go-to is always a white sneaker because it's comfortable, but also versatile. The ones above are from Adidas and I wear them all the time; they are a go-to for every season because they can be paired with so many different things. I then chose to wear a tan colored skirt that doesn't get too hot. Some people stray away from skirts in summer, but the key is to choose one of a light material. I could be caught dead wearing my jean skirt, but not in the summer- it keeps me too warm and it's too heavy to cool down. Trade your jean skirt in for long or short skirt that flows for a more feminine look and to keep you cool during those hot days!

The other great thing about this skirt is the color. Because it is a neutral, you can pair it with a lot of different tops and shoes. Change your shoes, and immediately elevate your look. It's that simple. You don't have to purchase a bunch of items to be cool and comfortable this summer. Just shop wisely: choose items that can be worn on almost every occasion. This skirt I picked up at Nordstrom Rack for under $20 ;)

I decided to pair my skirt with a Kate Spade top that I also got from Nordstrom Rack. Keeping with the neutrals, it's seasonal to wear brighter colors in the summer and it will keep you cooler than darker colors. Although this top is long sleeve, the material is very light, and that is what initially attracted me to it. I knew I could wear it in and beyond the summer time. Additionally, because is is long sleeve, it can easily convert from casual to more professional or elevated settings. You can never have too many white tops in my opinion!

Finally, I chose an old bag of mine that I still use because of it's size and functionality. Though brown usually is a Fall/Winter color, I think it can also be used here to bring a little pop of the neutrals. Definitely would not pair this outfit with a black bag just because it would be a big color contrast if you are going for a lighter color scheme. Also, because the bag has a shine to it, it naturally lightens up the brown and can give you more options of what to wear with it and when you can wear it. It also can be worn on one shoulder or as a cross body. So, you can dress it up or dress it down depending on what you're wearing. When buying handbags, I usually opt for getting ones that have a long strap that comes with it so I can use it in different ways.

I hope you guys enjoyed this read, I want create some more summer styling tips that we can all hopefully use after quarantine! If you have any ideas, let me know. I would LOVE to hear from you :)

Til' next time,

Mags xoxo
