Quarantine Reads

I am currently writing this as I procrastinate to study for my last final. . . oh well. During this time of quarantine, what better way to spend your time than reading books? I used to not like reading, actually. It's funny how now I am in a reading program for my college studies. Middle school me would never believe that. Anyways, reading is a good pastime and an especially good one now that we have so much time on our hands.

During this quarantine, I have been finishing up my reading for school, but now that it's over, I am trying to get back to reading some books that I bought over this past school year.
One book that I am really excited to finish reading is People to Be Loved by Preston Sprinkle. He actually came and spoke at a chapel service. After hearing him talk about the issue of homosexuality within the Christian culture, I immediately bought his book so I could learn more. I truly don't have much to say on the topic because I am not finished with the book, but with what I have read so far, it seems to give a fair argument on both sides for the Christian struggling with what they think about this issue. Overall, a good read if you want to dive deeper into this topic with keeping a Christian perspective.
Another book I am excited to finish is one that DBC wrote. For those of you who don't know who he is, Dr. Barry Corey is the president of Biola and is known around campus as "DBC." The book is called, Love Kindness: Discover the Power of a Forgotten Christian Virtue. I've only gotten around to reading one story in this book so far. But, it's basically a culmination of stories from DBC's life where ways of kindness are shown. Something that I don't usually characterize myself as is kind (unfortunately). So for me, I really wanted to read this book as a way to challenge myself to see kindness in all situations and to hopefully live out kindness more often in my daily life.
And finally, a book that I am excited to start reading is Overdressed: The Shockingly High Cost of Cheap Fashion. I have always been fascinated by how one article of clothing from Forever 21 could be so cheap whereas clothing from luxury brands can be in the thousands. Well, fast fashion has a role to play in the markups and markdowns. Needless to say, I am excited to read about how being a buyer can play a role in the fashion industry and how we can shop smarter to support sustainable brands and their workers :)
This was a short post, but just want to encourage everyone to make use of this time in quarantine! SOOOO if you need a book suggestion there you go- happy reading!!!!
